May 12 @ 9:30 am - 8:00 pm
Free

The Annual Vesak Celebration at a monastery is one of the most sacred and festive events in the Buddhist calendar. Vesak, also known as Buddha Purnima or Buddha Day, commemorates the Birth, Enlightenment, and Parinirvana (passing away) of Gautama Buddha, all believed to have occurred on the full moon day of the month of Vesakha (April/May).

Here’s a typical structure of how Vesak is celebrated at a monastery:

  • Offering of flowers, incense, and lamps to the Buddha

  • Chanting of sutras (such as Mangala Sutta, Metta Sutta)

  • Observance of the Five or Eight Precepts by laypeople

🕯️ 2. Bathing the Baby Buddha Ceremony
